What’s my match?: 14 Avon true color lipstick shades and their current replacements
Are you an Avon makeup fan who is still upset about the discontinuation of True Color Lipstick? You’re not alone! The number one thing I get asked these days comes from folks wanting to know what the replacement is for their favorite Avon True Color Lipstick shades. While normally Avon doesn’t replicate shades with new lipstick collections, this time they did!Â
On March 30th, 2022, Avon released 10 new shades that are direct replacements for True Color classics. To celebrate, I also pulled out my old True Color samples and compared all the shades that I could to bring you a few extra recommendations.
Without further ado, let’s see the list! You can also use the buttons below to jump ahead to your favorite shade.
Twilight is a direct replacement for the old true color shade Brown Sugar. They are the same shade, although I’ve noticed that Twilight is a tiny bit more yellow.
Although Luna is not advertised as a replacement, I’ve compared these shades myself and found them to be almost identical. Luna is slightly cooler (more blue), but not by much. I think Buttered Rum fans will be happy.
Don’t be confused by your screen! Wild Cherry is much more similar to Cherry Jubilee on the lips than it looks in photographs of the tubes. In fact, Avon released Wild Cherry to be the exact same color. Wild Cherry is slightly lighter, but the difference is subtle.
This is another shade match that I compared myself. Although Coral Fever and Poppy are not exactly the same, they are extremely similar, and I think Coral Fever fans will be happy with the switch. Poppy is slightly more yellow, but the difference is so subtle that most people will probably find them to look the same.
Plum Blossom is another shade that Avon released as a direct replacement – this time for Cozy Mauve. Although Plum Blossom doesn’t appear to be a full shimmer finish based on my comparison, there is a subtle shimmery sheen to it that is quite interesting.
I wasn’t able to get my hands on Cozy Mauve, but I’ve included a swatch of Plum Blosson below so you can see the finish.
Morning Glory was released as a replacement for Delicate Date, and is meant to be the exact same shade. Unfortunately I couldn’t get my hands on my own tube of Delicate Date to compare, but so far the similarities seem to check out.
According to Avon, Tulip was designed to be the exact same shade as Dragonfruit Blush. Dragonfruit Blush is another shade I couldn’t get my hands to see for myself. However, it should be a perfect match!
Although nothing is quite the same as Nude Truffle, I found that Fog is similar enough to pass as the same shade. Fog is slightly lighter, but not by much.
Avon released Aster as a direct replacement for Peony Blush. They are meant to be the exact same shade, and I’ve found that to be pretty true. As you can see, Aster is a smidge darker.
Not only is Constellation a direct replacement for Sparkling Mauve, but it is also the only Glimmer Satin Lipstick so far with a fully shimmer finish. Both the color and the finish are identical!
Desert Moon was designed to be the same shade as Toasted Cashew, according to Avon. I think Toasted Cashew fans will be happy with this direct replacement.
Another direct replacement, Eclipse is the same shade as True Color‘s Wine with Everything. I couldn’t get my hands on a tube of Wine with Everything, but I trust that it’s exactly the same.
Well there you have it! Are your favorite Avon True Color Lipstick shades on this list? Will you be trying out the replacement? Let us know in the comments!
