I’ll admit, I’ve been craving some new colors to work with in my lipstick collection. With Avon lip products being discontinued right and left these past several months, a lot of our favorite shades are now gone. That’s why when I saw that a new Avon matte finish lipstick was launching, I knew my customers would be excited!
So, what do you need to know about Glimmer Matte? I tried it out so I can give you the full scoop. Let’s dive in!
What is Glimmer Matte Lipstick?
fmg Glimmer Matte Lipstick is a matte finish lipstick by Avon launching on March 27, 2024. This lipstick is the matte cousin of the popular Glimmer Satin Lipstick, which launched back in the spring of 2021 to replace the old True Color Lipstick line.
Glimmer Matte is advertised as non-drying, with the antioxidant pomegranate extract to help nourish the lips, just like Glimmer Satin. It offers buildable coverage that can range from medium to full.
What void does it fill in the Avon catalog?
As mentioned above, this is a matte version of the Glimmer Satin Lipstick, and the formulas are indeed very similar. Personally, I like to think of it as a continuation of the satin line with just a small difference in finish. Now that some of our other matte lipsticks have been discontinued, Glimmer Matte will be a great option.
However, what also strikes me is how similar the shade range is to the now discontinued Cashmere Lipcream line. Although that was one of my favorite lipsticks, it was a bit more luxurious (with a price tag to match). These shades are similar, but with a more affordable price point.
What are the shades?
Glimmer Matte Lipstick has a modest range of 6 shades that includes Willow, Terra Nova, Sunset Mauve, Chili, Wild Orchid, and Garnet Sky.
What happened when I tried it out?
I had a lot of fun trying out the Glimmer Matte Lipstick. I actually found all the shades to be really beautiful, even though some worked better with my skin tone than others. Willow, for example, really clashed with my skin. However, It has a soft, nuanced quality to it that I think will look great on some other complexions. Personally, I really loved Terra Nova and Wild Orchid in particular.
As I mention in the video, the finish was noticeably more matte, though the difference was subtle. The formula was lightweight and felt just like the satin version. It didn’t dry out my lips at all, which was a relief! The color payoff actually stayed a long time, and I found that it even held up a little better than Glimmer Satin after meals and coffee breaks. I didn’t have to reapply as often as I thought I would. Color me impressed!
