Cashmere Complexion: My review of Avon’s stunning new foundation

If I’m being honest, it’s been a bit of a rough winter for my face. Despite my skincare routine, some days my face just struggles retaining moisture. And, as much as I love my foundation stick, it doesn’t help so much with the battle against dry winter skin.

I realized that what I really needed was a great new liquid alternative. That’s why, when I saw that Avon was launching the new Cashmere Complexion foundation line, it really caught my eye. A luxurious liquid foundation with natural, non-GMO botanical extracts? That sounds so nourishing! I knew I had to try this product out asap.

Could Cashmere be the answer I’d been looking for? There was only one way to find out!

But, before I tell you how it went, we need a little background on the product itself.

My experience

Application

Application is one area where Cashmere really stands out. The doe foot applicator makes applying this product so quick and easy.

With other pump-style bottles, I sometimes have a hard time when I’m in a rush or on autopilot. It’s so easy to push the pump a little too hard and make a mess! With Cashmere Complexion, this is not a concern.

I simply use the doe foot to draw several lines or dots, and then blend outwards to cover my face evenly. I find that it saves me a lot of time and frustration!

Another factor that made application so easy was the smoothness of the formula. I could feel the soft liquid gliding effortlessly across my face as I used my fingers to blend. It took almost no time at all to achieve that perfectly even coverage!

Appearance/Finish

I was beyond excited about the appearance of this foundation on my face. As promised, the formula really blurred my pores and imperfections. It also dried to a perfectly matte finish, unlike other liquid foundations which tend to make my face look oily.

I don’t think I can even overstate how confident I felt wearing this foundation. Cashmere Complexion is sort of like an instagram filter in a bottle – my complexion really did look flawless! Not to mention, I didn’t even have to control shine throughout the day. It was an exciting surprise to look in the bathroom mirror each time and find that my foundation was controlling oil and shine for me. That simple fact put a little extra spring in my step!

I was also pleasantly surprised that I had chosen the correct shade on the first try. When I was looking at the color choices, I noticed that a lot of the shade options had the exact same names as another Avon foundation line. Namely, the MagiX Wand Foundation Stick line. Although Avon doesn’t advertise a direct correlation, I started to wonder if the shades are, in fact, a direct match. It turns out – they are! I used my MagiX Wand shade (Coconut) to guide my decision, but went one shade darker (Cappuccino) in celebration of Spring weather! This ended up being the perfect shade for my face.

Staying Power

Wow! The 24 hour claim on this product is no joke. Although I didn’t wear my Cashmere foundation for quite that long, I did test it out on a day when I would need a full face of makeup for at least 9 hours.

The result? I found that the staying power of this product really held up. To provide some context, the day in question was an outdoor video shoot for a dance company that I’m part of. What exactly did that mean for my makeup? It meant a 9am-6pm day filled with sun, wind, and sweat doing their best to ruin my flawless face.

When lunchtime rolled around, I touched up my eyeshadow, eyeliner, and blush. The one thing I didn’t need to touch up? You guessed it! My Cashmere Complexion Longwear Foundation. In fact – my foundation was still intact when I arrived home later that evening, until I finally washed my face around 10pm.

Final thoughts

Overall, I consider the Cashmere Complexion Longwear Foundation to be a real triumph. It definitely checks all the boxes and delivers on its advertising claims.

In addition, I found it to be extremely comfortable to wear. The formula is lightweight, and really allows my skin to breathe despite providing full coverage. Sometimes it even makes me forget that I’m wearing full coverage makeup that day – which is all a girl can really ask for in a makeup product, am I right? Achieving beauty and comfort at the same time is the ultimate win!

I read both of your reviews on Magix Foundation and the Cashmere foundation. I’m still undecided. Is there one that you’ve ended up sticking more with, and why?

Great question! Honestly, I don’t think I’ve reached for my tube of MagiX Wand in the past two months that I’ve had the Cashmere. Even though MagiX worked well for me for a long time, it takes a bit longer to apply because the formula is more dry in comparison to the Cashmere and I had to add water to my makeup sponge during the winter. I struggle with dry skin, so most mornings I look at both tubes and end up reaching for the Cashmere. I also prefer the finish & coverage of Cashmere – I already wrote about what I like about each, but I think with the Cashmere I just feel prettier! Hope that helps…
