Avon makeup remover: My comparison review after trying all four
When I saw that Avon was launching a brand new waterproof makeup remover this month, I was pretty pumped! With all the new waterproof eye and lip products coming out, it seemed like a no brainer. That’s when I stopped to think: without realizing it, I have tried literally every single remover that exists in Avon’s current lineup! Because of this, it would be silly of me not to use my experience to help people choose their ideal Avon makeup remover.
So, how do these products compare? Read on to find out! I’ve listed them from best to worst according to my personal ranking. Let’s take a look!
#1 Waterproof Lip & Eye Makeup Remover
UPDATE 2023: Waterproof Lip & Eye Makeup Remover is being rebranded and repackaged as of April 26th, 2023. It is now the fmg Waterproof Lip & Eye Makeup Remover.
BEST FOR: Hard-to-remove lip and eye makeup
ADVERTISED BENEFITS
➤ Dual-layer oil and water formula
➤ Leaves skin fresh and clean
➤ Mineral-free
➤ Moisturizing blend of oils
➤Talc-free
➤ Paraben-free
MY THOUGHTS
The Waterproof Lip & Eye Makeup Remover just launched, but it’s already my favorite! It removes makeup really quickly and easily compared to both of Avon’s wipe options. That said, It’s really meant for lip and eye makeup – so a direct comparison may be a bit unfair. I won’t be using this product on the rest of my face. Regardless, this product has been a lifesaver for difficult-to-remove products such as mascaras, eyeliners, long-wearing lipsticks, and other waterproof makeup.

#2 Makeup Remover Wipes with Mineral Complex
UPDATE 2022: Avon’s Makeup Remover Wipes with Mineral Complex is discontinued as of 1/19/22. It has been replaced with the Unready Makeup Remover Cloth.
BEST FOR: Regular makeup that is applied heavily
ADVERTISED BENEFITS
➤ Enriched with minerals including zinc, magnesium, iron and copper
➤ Skin feels totally cleansed and refreshed
➤ Easily removes any face or eye makeup
➤ Non-greasy
➤ Gentle
MY THOUGHTS
The Makeup Remover Wipes with Mineral Complex is my second favorite Avon makeup remover, as it’s also the second most powerful. It feels pretty gentle on the skin, and removes foundations and regular lipsticks quickly. It’s not quite as gentle as our #3 choice, but is definitely more effective for heavy makeup such as stage makeup. It has 24 wipes per pack compared to 50 for the Rice Water Bright Cleansing Facial Wipes, but each wipe is larger in size.
BEST FOR: Regular makeup – especially for people with dry skin
ADVERTISED BENEFITS
➤ Moisturizing rice water formula with vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin E, ceramide, and minerals
➤ Removes face and eye makeup
MY THOUGHTS
The Rice Water Bright Cleansing Facial Wipes are my third favorite choice, but only by a slim margin. It would only take a slight improvement for this product to move up to second place! Because these wipes are marketed primarily as a cleanser, they are more gentle and more nourishing than the Makeup Remover Wipes with Mineral Complex. As someone who struggles with dry skin, this means a lot to me. I actually reach for these wipes a lot, depending on how much makeup I’m wearing that day. That said, it definitely takes longer to remove the makeup, and I often need two wipes instead of one to get it all off.
#4 True Color Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Lotion
BEST FOR: Easy-to-remove eye makeup, people who need something fragrance-free
ADVERTISED BENEFITS
➤ works quickly and easily to gently remove all traces of eye makeup
➤ Lightweight
➤ Fragrance-free
➤ Water-based
➤ Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
➤ Clinically tested
➤ Dermatologist-tested
➤ Ophthalmologist-tested
MY THOUGHTS
The Moisturizing Eye Makeup Remover Lotion is my least favorite Avon makeup remover, and to be honest I probably won’t reach for it now that the Waterproof Lip & Eye Makeup Remover is available. Although I do notice and appreciate the moisturization benefits of this product, I find application to be a bit of a hassle. No matter how hard I try, I always squeeze way too much product out of the bottle. It’s also tricky to massage the lotion on my eyelids without accidentally getting a little bit into my eyeballs. As a result, I get overly cautious and don’t rub hard enough – which means that not all of my eye makeup gets removed until I follow it up with a makeup wipe. Perhaps folks with steadier hands have more success this this makeup remover, but for me it’s just not worth it now that there’s an easier option available!
Well, there you have it! Those are my rankings and opinions about all 4 of Avon’s makeup removers. Have you tried any of these products yourself? Let us know which is your favorite in the comments below!
