Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad: What happened when I tried out Avon’s new primary eyeshadow

When I first saw that Avon was coming out with a new line of eyeshadow quads, I was immediately curious! For months, I’ve been debating which eyeshadow to order next as I approach the bottom of the container in my favorite True Color Eyeshadow Quad. Over time, it became clear that this Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad was being poised to replace the now discontinued True Color – taking it’s place as the primary eyeshadow collection for everyday makeup in Avon’s catalog. I knew I would have to try it out ASAP!

Well – that’s exactly what I did! I got my hands on all 10 shades of Glimmer Eyeshadow to give you the full skinny. What happened when I tried them out? Keep reading to find out. But first, some background . . .

Application

Application of this eyeshadow went pretty well, but I was honestly a little bit rusty using the applicators that are included with the palette. I’ve been on the eyeshadow brush boat for many years now, and I found the makeup look I created with the applicator to be a bit too severe for my taste.

That said – the feel of the eyeshadow as it glid onto my skin was pretty nice! It’s very smooth, and should be easy to work with using your preferred tools.

Appearance/Finish

Overall, I was impressed with the appearance of these palettes. There are a variety of different finishes from a sheer shimmer to a solid matte – and everything in between. The more solid shades have an intense color payoff, especially compared to the old True Color eyeshadows.

More than just the color payoff, I found the shades themselves to have a very dynamic quality. All the shades have a certain depth to them, whether that comes out as a magical shimmer, iridescent blend of hues, bold impact, or nostalgic/emotional quality.

Staying Power

This eyeshadow was solid for the rest of the day, to the point where I began to take it for granted. I almost forgot that I was counting the hours – until I looked in the mirror before bed and and my eyelids still looked ready for a night out!

I think “long-wearing” is a pretty fair claim to make. I didn’t have to reapply throughout the day at all.

Eye Sensitivity

Another thing to note about this eyeshadow is that it didn’t activate my allergies at all. It’s rare for me to wear an eyeshadow that doesn’t make my eyelids a little bit itchy. It’s just a part of life for me. However, my eyelids didn’t feel itchy from Glimmer Eyeshadow despite it being the height of allergy season.

Well – that’s the full skinny on what happened when I tried the new Glimmer Eyeshadow Quad by Avon. What do you think? Which shade palette would you get for yourself, and why? Let us know in the comments below!
