Cashmere Lipcream: My review of Avon’s most high-end lipstick

I must admit, the upcoming launch of the new FMG Cashmere Lipcream didn’t grab me at first. Avon has so many great and varied lipstick products on offer, I almost decided to skip trying this one out and focus on reviewing more eye products instead. However, when Avon reps started buzzing and chattering amongst themselves about the Lipcream, I knew I couldn’t pass this one up!

According to Avon, this is the first time they have made an upgrade to their core lipstick formula in several years. And yes – this upgrade has created Avon’s most high-end, luxurious, and decadent lipstick yet. At least, that’s what was promised! How does the Cashmere Lipcream hold up to the claims? Keep reading to find out. But first, we need a little background . . .

My experience with Cashmere Lipcream

Application

The application process was pretty easy. The Lipcream went on smooth and creamy, as was promised. I did find though, that I needed multiple swipes to get full coverage. For me personally, this is not really a problem or dealbreaker. However, it’s something to keep in mind depending on your lipstick needs.

When I watched the video playback of myself applying the lip cream, I found that I was actually swiping for quite a while – at least 20 seconds not counting when I paused to talk. For this review, I was going for the full impact coverage to really see the Soft Mauve shade in action.

Appearance/Finish

I was very happy with both the finish and the color of this product. Like I mention in the video, I didn’t have any problems with this Lipcream in regards to feathering or drying of the lips. For me, that’s actually pretty rare – especially when I’m dehydrated like I was the day I filmed. As a result, the creamy matte finish of this product really popped.

If you’re looking for a matte lipstick that is super matte, this may not be the right choice for you. Like I mention in the video, it’s a little bit more creamy-looking than a true matte. As a member of the sensitive lips club, I personally think it strikes the perfect balance.

In regards to the color, I must admit I am IN LOVE with Soft Mauve. If you follow the blog, you’ve probably noticed that I’m often surprised by what the shades of various Avon products look like. Generally speaking, I do find that the shade charts and marketing images are often a little bit off compared to what the products look like in real life – even taking into account the different skin tones of Avon’s models. However, Soft Mauve turned out to be exactly what I was imagining in my head! My only regret is that I didn’t get my hands on this tube before I published my annual Fall lip color recommendations for 2020. Soft Mauve will probably end up being my #1 go-to shade when the weather starts to turn!

Staying Power

The staying power of this lipstick is decent enough. However, since it doesn’t claim to be long-wearing, we can only expect so much. On its own, this formula does not hold up against food and drink. So – unless you’re an intermittent faster, you will need to reapply every 3-5 hours anyway. I don’t know about you, but 3 hours is about as long as I can go without a snack! As a result, I wasn’t as diligent in testing out the wear time as I had hoped to be. However, the Cashmere Lipcream didn’t seem to fade or smudge at all within those 3-hour increments.

Other thoughts about Cashmere Lipcream

One area where Cashmere Lipcream really stands out is the comfort. This lipstick really does feel super smooth and soft on the lips, and you can tell how it got its name. There is a sense that the lips are getting pampered and nourished as you wear this product, and I am a huge fan of that feeling. I think those who are skeptical about this product’s higher price-point will be pleasantly surprised with just how luxurious this formula feels. It definitely did not disappoint!

Well, those are my thoughts on the new FMG Cashmere Lipcream. What do you think? Is this product something you would try for yourself? Let us know in the comments!
